Shingles & Post Herpetic Neuralgia

More common in older patients, Shingles or Herpes Zoster can cause considerable pain and distress. One can often expect nerve damage and associated pain for an extended period after the initial attack. Laser therapy can not only be used to succesfully reduce pain in the acute stages but also to treat and to limit the onset of the neuralgia and associated problems. Precise mechanisms of how laser achieves the effects are not conclusively proven, but there is considerable research evidence of nerve regeneration resulting from laser therapy which is consistent with the effects achieved with post herpetic neuralgia.
