Small Animal Treatments

Low level laser therapy is especially effective for chronic conditions, infection, non-healing wounds or where the animal's immune system is compromised.

In terms of musculoskeletal applications it is particularly valuable in the treatment of cruciate ligament in the dog where the Alternative Veterinary Medicine Website reports that it can act as an alternative to surgery in many cases.

The pain relieving effects are relevant to all manner of conditions, from for example arthritic joints in cats to sinusitis in dogs and the calming feel-good effects resulting from the increased endorphin release (as demonstrated in human research) is very apparent in animals with some relaxing to the extent of falling asleep during treatment. Sensitive birds which feather pluck with stress can be soothed mentally as well as physically through this mechanism thus reducing the neurotic behaviour.

Other avian conditions which respond well to treatment include bumblefoot and jess injuries which have failed to heal in birds of prey .

Safe over pins and plates laser therapy is also ideal when treating very young, old or otherwise nervous animals.  It is uniquely suited for treating over trigger points, ashi acupuncture points and other areas of pain or sensitivity such as post-operative sites.

Omega is currently planning a series of Small Animal Laser Therapy one-day courses - contact us on 01787 477551 for latest details.

"I use my Omega laser all the time - it works wonders when it comes to wound-healing in particular."
