Training Courses Overview
Each of our courses comprises core laser therapy content covering laser physics, physiological effects, key parameters, generic protocols and safe use. They all offer opportunities for hands-on equipment familiarisation, and include relevant research references and case examples.
The primary aim of the courses is to equip the health care professional with the knowledge and confidence to be able to successfully incorporate laser therapy into their practice, whether they are completely new to laser therapy or in need of a refresher course.
We run open courses and tailored in-house courses so if you are interested in arranging a course in your area or through your organisation, do get in touch.
We seek evaluation of each of our courses by the attendees, and although we are always looking for ways to improve, we are pleased to report that they have been consistently well received with excellent evaluation figures.
Separate from our courses, purchasers of Omega Laser Systems receive one to one product introductory training free of charge at the customer's site, subject to certain travel limitations – call us to find out more.
We are constantly updating our training programme, with new courses occasionally being introduced between those already planned, so do check back for new additions, or sign-up for news updates from us by clicking here.
Courses cost from £30 to £195 (inc. VAT) depending upon format, timing and society memberships.

Our popular series of one-day courses in association with the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists continues through 2010. The dates and locations are listed in the Open Training Programme section above as the Podiatry case focus days.
For each of these events, SCP members can attend for only £40, accredited practices for £30, and non-members are welcome, subject to member demand at £60 (alll including VAT), making these exceptional value for money.
If you are interested in attending, then please contact Natasha Smith at the SCP on ns@scpod.org or 0845 450 3733.

How complete is the laser therapy knowledge in your department? Could your clinical team benefit from a thorough understanding of of what LLLT can offer? Perhaps you have valuable equipment which is underused because of training gaps?
With new staff joining and trained staff moving on, many departments and practices find themselves with a training requirement for a number of cliinicians at once. However, freeing up all the relevant staff for off-site external training courses with the associated travel time and costs can make it difficult to achieve.
We regularly provide in-house courses at customer sites to meet these needs in a cost-effective way.
We can offer full or half-day tuition covering theory and hands-on practice. For one fee the organisation can have up to 30 people trained at a cost equivalent to training only 4 individuals at a usual one-day course rate. The organisation can further recoup much of even this cost if wanted by opening the course to others externally. External delegates are offered places for a fee set by the organisation and Omega helps publicises the course on this website and in its newsletters and other contact conversations.
If you think that this could be of use to your establishment call us on +44 (0)1787 477551 for more details and rates.

Used by top racing yards and competition stables, the optimised healing delivered by laser therapy results in reduced recovery times from a range of equine conditions and injuries. It is subsequently much valued, but knowledge of how to use it to good effect is often jealously guarded by those who have seen it in action. These courses demystify the use of laser with clear explanation of the latest knowledge on physiological effects, how to treat and results to expect.
The series of one-day courses dedicated to the use of laser therapy for horses has been particularly well received with 100% of attendees to date saying that they would recommend the course to a colleague.
Following a concise but clear presentation of laser therapy theory and equipment familiarisation, guest speaker Janet Lloyd-Jones MBAcA MBMLA joins us to share her extensive knowledge and experience of using laser therapy in the equine field. Each course covers:
- Responsibilities when treating horses
- Preparation steps
- Application techniques
- Treatable conditions
- Case histories
- Treatment protocols
Following attendee feedback regarding the large amount of information delivered on each course, we trialled a new format where the one day's content is spread over two half-days, covering a Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The aim was to allow attendees a night to absorb and digest the first half day's content, perhaps over an evening meal with other attendees, before tackling the rest the next morning. These new format courses have received an overwhelmingly positive response and will now be our standard format for Equine courses. The next course in this format will be held at the British Racing School in Newmarket, who also offer accommodation from £35 per night. Further course dates and venues will be publicised here when finalised but if you are particularly interested, do feel free to call us to discuss on 01787 477551 and we can let you know where we are with our plans.
These courses are open to all, whether professionally or otherwise involved with horse health. Course costs vary with venue, format and timing. They vary from £129 to £195 (both inc. VAT) and all include course notes and attendance certificate. Accommodation is not included in these rates but most courses include a lunch - contact us for details of each specific course. To book a place, or for more information, email Omega Laser at info@omegalaser.co.uk or call on 01787-477551.
Omega Laser Systems have been involved in smoking cessation research for over 15 years now and since the publication in 2008 of perhaps the strongest research study demonstrating the effectiveness of laser for smoking cessation treatment we have found increasing demand for this application.
Conducted by Catherine Kerr and Paul Lowe at Middlesex University and using Omega Laser equipment, the study was double-blind, peer-reviewed and showed strong statistically significant results. Just under 80% of smokers who received 4 treatments stopped smoking and 72% of those were still not smoking six months later. See the Journal of Chinese Medicine's website www.jcm.co.uk, where the full article is downloadable.
We recommend dedicated training for smoking cessation treatment, particularly where it is used as a stand-alone application. Contact us for more details on training options at info@omegalaser.co.uk or on +44 (0) 1787 477551.
